Opus I variant guide

A compact index of the visible features used during Wave 1 and Wave 2 review. These notes support evaluation; they do not replace the underlying evidence records.

Ability-text punctuation

Both cards use the same documented punctuation and icon-placement distinction. Visible ability text is reviewed independently of “Wave 1-Foil”, “Wave 1” or “Premium Foil” grading-label wording.

Review standard

Labels are evidence, not conclusions

Grading labels are recorded exactly as issued, but the visible card configuration is evaluated independently.

Image quality

Ambiguity stays unresolved

Glare, compression, low resolution or cropped text can prevent a reliable finding. Unclear examples remain pending rather than being forced into a category.

Publication rule

Variant notes become canonical only after a comparison entry clearly states the observable difference, documents supporting examples and records any limitations.
